Nonprofit Model Delivers $1.1 Billion in Community Impact

Banner Health’s 2025 annual report, released March 31, 2026, details $1.1 billion in community investments across its six-state footprint. As Arizona’s largest private employer supporting 140,000 jobs and generating $12 billion in annual economic impact, Banner operates 33 hospitals and more than 400 sites. The system increased colorectal cancer screenings by 114% and blood pressure checks by over 1,100% year-over-year among Medicaid members, while well-child visits in rural Arizona counties rose 34% — critical gains for Our Relatives in underserved regions!

Culturally Competent Outreach Honors Indian Country

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute hosted its 19th annual Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia in Native Americans on October 30, addressing the reality that one in five Native adults aged 45 and older reports memory concerns. At Diamond Children’s Medical Center in Tucson, a new pediatric emergency department mural completed February 16, 2026, was designed in consultation with the Tohono O’odham Nation and Pascua Yaqui Tribe, supporting Native practitioners, elders, and families seeking healing in welcoming spaces (featured image).

Expanding Graduate Medical Education for Tribal and Rural Communities

The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation grant announced October 24, 2025 funds nearly 200 new primary care residency positions with the University of Arizona, including 144 slots at Banner/U of A Phoenix sites over three years. Arizona currently meets only 35.4% of its primary care physician needs and will require nearly 2,000 additional physicians by 2030; residents training 50% in rural sites are five times more likely to practice there.
