Amazon Web Services launched Amazon Connect Health, an AI agent-powered platform built to automate the administrative burden crushing healthcare providers — appointment scheduling, patient verification, clinical documentation, and medical coding. The platform is HIPAA-eligible, integrates directly with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and costs $99 per user per month for up to 600 encounters — a number that matters, since most primary care physicians average 300 encounters monthly. This is not AWS’s first move in the $5 trillion U.S. healthcare industry; the company has been building since launching Amazon Comprehend Medical in 2018 and Amazon HealthLake in 2021.
