The Indian Health Service has completed the Soft Go-Live of PATH EHR at the Lawton Service Unit and is targeting full go-live on September 26, 2026, a milestone that will shape every IHS, Tribal, and urban Indian facility that follows.

On August 1, 2026, the IHS Health IT Modernization Program announced the Soft Go-Live of PATH EHR registration and scheduling at Lawton Indian Hospital, Anadarko Indian Health Center, and Carnegie Indian Health Center in Oklahoma. Active patient and Tribal demographic records were migrated from the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and validated. For the first time, a live IHS facility is scheduling patients outside RPMS, the system that has anchored Native health care for roughly four decades.

Full PATH EHR Go-Live Is Scheduled for September 26, 2026

The August 2026 special edition of the Health IT Modernization Program Newsletter sets full go-live and a Command Center for September 26, following readiness checks on June 30, July 28, and August 25. All new patient encounters will then begin in PATH EHR. Limited RPMS access stays open only to close historic referrals, lab entries, and pending billing claims, with hypercare support through November.
